Aundrea is pictured here with her childhood doll "Luv" - Hence the name of the business "Luv's Brownies".

Aundrea was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. After finishing high school, she moved to San Jose to attended San Jose State University. She completed her BS degree in Journalism/Public Relations and a minor in Marketing.

Ms Lacy started baking for a friend in college who helped her land a job at a Fortune 500 computer company. As a thank you, she asked her friend what he wanted. He replied, “just bake me some brownies”. Aundrea whipped up the ingredients and delivered the brownies to her colleague. He replied, “Those brownies are awesome”.

During her graduating semester, Aundrea and her counselor realized she failed the same math class five times. A few weeks later, Aundrea was tested for Dyslexia. This is when she realized she had been transposing numbers without knowing she had a learning disability.

After the proper accommodations were provided, she excelled at San Jose State University.

During her graduating semester, she earned a 3.4 GPA. The Equal Opportunity Programs/Student Development Services awarded her an Honor’s certificate for Outstanding Academic Achievement.

After praying and asking for guidance, in 1996, she opened an online bakery called Luv’s Brownies. She named her company after a childhood doll named Luv.

Aundrea’s story about how she developed her business and recipe has been highlighted and acknowledged by Barbara Walters & featured on the Montel Williams show. Her story of her struggle to overcome this disability has been publicized in over twenty-five printed publications including Essence, Ebony, Today’s Black Woman, San Jose, Upscale magazines, Oakland Tribune and San Jose Mercury Newspapers.

In 2004 & 2005, at the Annual International Hospitality Celebration at the San Jose Convention Center, Luv’s Brownies was presented with the People’s Choice Best Dessert Award.

Award Winning Brownies

Luv's Brownies is the proud recipient of the following awards:
2005 People’s Choice “Best Sweet” dessert award – International Hospitality Convention

2005 San Jose State University Outstanding Alumni Award

2004 People’s Choice “Best Sweet” dessert award – International Hospitality Convention

1993 San Jose State University Outstanding Academic Achievement Award

After being featured on the Montel Williams Show and in a variety of printed publications Aundrea received about 10,000 letters from customers and potential customers. All of them had two questions:

  1. How did she market the business?
  2. How did she overcome her challenges?

Ironically 90% of the emails and letters were from women. So, she wrote a book titled "Brownie Points " Seven Steps to Success for Women Entreprenurs from One Who Made it. Inside “Brownie Points ” you will discover:

  • The importance of a repeatable process
  • Why your business isn’t even your business
  • How to develop your Unique Selling Proposition
  • Who your best customer is

The book also explains there isn’t a perfect time to do something (start a business or go back to school). We will always have our challenges. Because of those challenges don’t let anything or anyone stop you from accomplishing your dreams!

During February “Black History Month” and March “Women’s History Month” you can hear Aundrea speak about how she overcame her challenges & struggles at various universities, junior colleges, local bookstores and bakeries.
